A lot of people first heard of them via tennis player Arina Rodionova (and wife of Hawthorn player Ty Vickery), pictured above, and today they’re front and centre on Page 3 of the Herald Sun.

You can buy them on eBay for $39.78.

But Neil Mitchell (admittedly not a noted cat-lover) reckons the cats look miserable.

He spoke with Dr Liz Walker, Chief Executive of the RSPCA, this morning about whether the catpacks are cool or cruel.

“I don’t think you could really say it was cruel,” Dr Walker said.

“It would depend on the animal.”
