Cat mauled in horror Moonee Ponds backyard dog attack

A Moonee Ponds woman has been left devastated after a horrible incident which has left her cat with a feeding tube and a fractured skull.

An off-leash dog in the park beside Stephanie Ciantar’s house spotted her cat in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The dog ran out of the park, up Ms Ciantar’s driveway and into her backyard, where it attacked her cat.

Security footage captured the dog’s owner calling the name ‘Freya’ while chasing the pooch.

“The owner … had to actually physically pull her dog off the cat, and just left the cat there,” Ms Ciantar said.

She says she’s been left with an “astronomical vet bill of upwards of $10,000” and wants to identify the owner so she can foot the bill.
