NSW will start ditching QR code check-ins at “lower risk” venues, provided COVID-19 cases continue to fall.

It’s lead to calls for Victoria to do the same.

“It’s perhaps not surprising that we are shifting now into that next phase,” Associate Professor Holly Seale, infectious disease social scientist at the University of New South Wales, told Tom Elliott.

Tom questioned whether the check-in now served more of a purpose for checking vaccination status, given the government has scaled back its contact tracing efforts recently.
