Calls for Melbourne Comedy Festival to recognise Barry Humphries

There are calls for Barry Humphries to be recognised by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival after the iconic comedian’s death.

Today is the last day of the comedy festival, which started last month.

Festival organisers famously stripped Humphries name from the festival’s biggest award — The Barry — on the back of comments he made about transgender people in 2019.

But pressure is growing on the festival to reflect on the contribution Humphries made on Australian comedy.
