Following a delay of Melbourne’s Airport Rail project, there are calls for the SkyBus to be given its own lane on the Tullamarine Freeway.

The Airport Rail link was scheduled to open in 2029 but that timeline has been pushed back by up to four years due to budget constraints.

Professor of Public Transport at Monash University’s faculty of engineering, Graham Currie, thinks giving SkyBus its own lane is a good alternative in the meantime.

“As delays are caused we’re going to get more and more traffic, so they’re going to have a terrible run time to the airport really, stuck in traffic, so that’s why we need to protect it,” he told Ross and Russel.
