Business leader says ‘conservative’ roadmap is a crushing blow for Victoria

A Victorian business leader is demanding to know why the state’s roadmap out of COVID-19 restrictions is so much more “conservative” than NSW.

Paul Guerra, CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the government’s plan, unveiled on Sunday, had been yet another crushing blow for business in the state.

“I’ve never heard despair like I heard yesterday,” Mr Guerra said on 3AW.

Whether it was hospitality, retail, or even the education sector, Mr Guerra said there was one common theme among the questions asked of him from desperate people on Sunday.

“Why are we so different to where NSW are? How come their modelling is showing a different path? How come we are on the conservative path? I think that question needs answering,” he said.
