Bus driver jailed over Montague Street bridge crash which injured six
The bus driver who crashed into the Montague Street bridge has been jailed.
Jack Aston has been jailed for five years and three months after six passengers were seriously injured in the incident in 2016.
The County Court judge ruled Aston, 55, showed “flagrant inattention” in failing to notice signs warning of the low bridge.
In his defence, Aston – a Ballarat resident – says he was confused, new to the job with Gold Buses, and driving on a new route when the crash occurred.
