Bruce McAvaney reveals he’s fighting cancer

Bruce McAvaney has revealed he’s fighting cancer.

The leading sports broadcaster, who turns 64 this year, has leukaemia.

He told the Herald Sun he ‘felt well’ but conceded it could be serious.

McAvaney found out more than two years ago.

He was an obvious omission from this year’s Australian Open commentary team, revealing he felt fatigued from a big workload in 2016 that included the footy, horse racing and Rio Olympics.
