Qantas flight lands safely in Sydney after mid-air drama

There was brief aviation drama at Sydney Airport on Wednesday after a Qantas flight issued an emergency mayday call.

Thankfully, the plane has since landed safely.

One of the engines on Flight QF144 from Auckland reportedly failed.

Nigel was on the flight and told Tom Elliott passengers were aware something had happened but weren’t aware of the potential gravity of the situation until the plane had landed.

“I turned my phone on and there were about 17 messages from my wife asking what the hell was going on and if I was safe!” he said.
