Bomber great would ‘love’ to see Hird back at Essendon
Essendon great Dustin Fletcher says he’d “love” to see former coach James Hird back involved with the club.
Speaking on 3AW Football, Fletcher said he still remained in touch with Hird and had recently been on a trip away to Tasmania with him, as well as club icon Kevin Sheedy.
“We had a good trip,” Fletcher said on 3AW.
“I still text him and give him a ring every now and then.
“Hopefully he’s on the right path.
“I’d love to see him back at Essendon.”
Caroline Wilson asked Fletcher if he felt any anger about how his decorated career finished.
“Nah, not really,” he responded.
“There’s no doubt mistakes were made by various parties and different people and to be honest, it wasn’t the best time, but I’m pretty easy-going.
“The footy club has been fantastic to me.”
