‘Bold move’: Cancer Council professor’s thoughts on smoking ban in the UK
Head of Prevention at Cancer Council Victoria, Associate Professor Craig Sinclair, says the UK’s decision to follow in New Zealand’s footsteps in banning cigarettes for the next generation is a “bold move”.
Under the new plan, the age for purchasing a cigarette in the UK would rise from 18 every year, meaning children aged 14 today would never be able to buy a cigarette in the future.
Professor Sinclair however, doesn’t believe there will be a reduction in smoking for “decades”.
