Blues CEO not expecting favourable fixture treatment in 2019
Carlton CEO Cain Liddle isn’t expecting any fixture favours from the AFL in 2019.
The Blues won just two games this season but played in four marquee Friday night matches as well as the season-opening Thursday night clash against Richmond.
But Liddle said he “understands” why the club won’t get many favourable timeslots next year.
“We understand we’re not going to get Friday night games and (next year) receive some ordinary timeslots,” he said on 3AW Football.
“What we are saying is we know we’re going to play Collingwood and Essendon – at least help us out with Saturday afternoon games earlier in the year when the weather is better.
“But if you get those games in Round 17 at four o’clock, we’re going to haemorrhage financially and we don’t want to do that.
“Give us a chance with those traditional blockbusters and leave them in decent timeslots.”
