Bike expert on the Melbourne roads voted most unsafe for cyclists

Australia’s largest crowd-sourced cycling safety project, BikeSpot, has revealed the most unsafe and worse roads in Melbourne.

Senior policy adviser at Bicycle Network, Garry Brennan, says people often forget cycling can be scary but the actual risk of crashing is low.

“It’s just the level of stress, that’s the concern, it’s stressful,” he told Tony Jones.

He also says drivers shouldn’t be expected to change their routes just to avoid stressful roads.

“They’re just like people in cars trying to get to work and people on the train, you’ve got a target time you want to get there, you don’t want to dally,” he said.
