Cheltenham blaze deemed suspicious

Victoria Police is investigating a massive grass fire that ripped through Cheltenham Park on Wednesday.

The blaze, which took 90 firefighters to bring under control, saw residents on several streets evacuated.

Water bombers were also required to put out the flames, which spread to a nearby cemetery and golf course.

A campfire was initially thought to be the cause of the blaze, however, upon further investigation, police now want to look into the matter further.

The blaze has been deemed suspicious.
