Betting sites crash just hours before Melbourne Cup
Online sports betting sites have crashed nationwide just hours before the Melbourne Cup.
Sportsbet, Ladbrokes and TAB.com.au have all experienced issues this afternoon, with punters unable to place bets on their smartphones or computers.
Ladbrokes site reads, “Something went wrong. This page didn’t load correctly. Please wait a few moments and then refresh to try again. Betting is still available by calling our phone betting line on 1800 523 276.”
With just half an hour until the race, multiple sites are still experiencing problems.
Punters have taken to social media to express their dismay, saying they’ve been able to top up their accounts, but not place bets.
Hi. We are currently having some technical issues. Our team is working on this urgently and we understand that the timing couldn’t be worse. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Ugh. Why won’t the @tabcomau app let me top up my account!

Good work @sportsbetcomau. Great to have topped up my account, and now not able to use it. #MelbourneCup2018
