‘Best game of footy in 20 years’: Leigh Matthews speaks on emotion watching Lions win premiership
Leigh Matthews admits he was more emotion than he expected watching his beloved Lions win this year’s premiership, saying it was the best game of football he’s been invested in for two decades.
Brisbane smashed Sydney by 60 points to win their fourth flag, with Matthews chosen to present the Brisbane playing group with the coveted premiership.
The club great was visibly emotional as he embraced Lions coach Chris Fagan immediately after the final siren and told Wide World of Sports he simply became a “passionate fan” on Saturday.
