Bendigo Mayor ‘very pleased’ with Court of Appeal decision on mosque
The Mayor of Bendigo says he’s ‘very pleased’ the Court of Appeal has thrown out a drawn out legal bid from residents to stop a mosque being built in the regional city.
Rod Fyffe, from the City of Greater Bendigo, told 3AW Drive the decision reflected democracy and the views of the majority of the Bendigo community.
‘I’m very pleased with the decision,’ Cr Fyffe said.
‘It upholds what council has done, it upholds what VCAT has done.’
The City of Greater Bendigo now expects the mosque to be built within two years.
