The newly-minted Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has called King Charles in the wake of Her Majesty’s death.
She has informed him the government will meet tomorrow.

3.30am – Buckingham Palace announces Queen Elizabeth II’s death
Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96, Buckingham Palace has announced.
Her eldest son, Prince Charles is now King.
Tributes are flowing for Queen Elizabeth II, who has died at the age of 96.
Former England cricket captain David Gower told Ross and Russel she was “one of those people who had this great universal ability to make anyone feel at ease”.
“There are millions of people in the UK tonight weeping profusely.”

Former premier of Victoria, Steve Bracks, met Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 and again in 2006.
The former premier described the monarch as “a beautiful person”.
He also recalled the Queen’s humorous reaction to tasting a gutsy Victorian shiraz
