Barry Humphries’ family choose Sydney over Melbourne for funeral

The state funeral for Barry Humphries will be held in Sydney, not his hometown of Melbourne.

The comedian’s family have opted to take up the NSW state funeral offer. It comes after the Prime Minister last week announced Humphries would be honoured with a joint strate funeral co-hosted by Victoria, NSW and the Commonwealth.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford says Victoria was “slow off the mark”, but several factors likely contributed to the family’s decision.
