Bar owner vents frustration after Omicron-infected patron forces staff into isolation
The owner of one of the bars where an Omicron-positive person partied last Friday night says he’ll almost certainly be forced to shut his venue for a few days due to a large chunk of his staff being forced into seven days of isolation.
Tom McFeely owns the Peel Hotel.
He told 3AW Mornings it was incredibly frustrating, given it is one of the busiest times of the year.
“It basically means we have to shut down,” Mr McFeely said.
“I thought we were learning to live with this damn thing and now this happened.
“All our patrons are double-vaxxed, we make sure of that when they come in.”
He said it was yet another crippling blow to his business, which has spent much of the past two years shut due to lockdown.
“It’s policy on the run and policy on the run doesn’t work for small business,” he said.
