Ballarat murder mystery: Police call for public assistance to unravel ‘unusual’ case

Police need public assistance to unravel a possible murder mystery in the Ballarat region.

They’ve received anonymous reports suggesting an unknown male was murdered in the Ballarat region in early 2016 and his body disposed of by unknown means.

Investigators have trawled through both state and national missing person databases and made other enquiries. but haven’t been able to confirm the reports.

“Though this is quite an unusual case, unfortunately, it’s not unheard of for somebody to go missing and never be reported,” Detective Sergeant Maurice Ryan said in a statement.

Police are calling on anyone who may of know of someone who has gone missing in the region in 2016, or who has information about the possible murder to come forward to Crime Stoppers.
