Avalon Airshow to refund tickets after ‘diabolical’ traffic chaos
Avalon Airshow organisers have promised they’ll refund ticket-holders who weren’t able to attend the event after massive traffic delays.
Airshow chief executive officer, Justin Giddings, says there were “a few hundred people who decided to turn around because of traffic congestion” on the way to the airshow on Saturday.
Matthew told 3AW Mornings the traffic on Saturday was “diabolical” and he decided to turn around and go home three hours into his trip from Melbourne to Avalon, with his navigation app indicating he wouldn’t reach the entrance for another hour and 20 minutes.

Mr Giddings told 3AW Breakfast those who weren’t able to attend due to excessive traffic will have their tickets refunded.
But Matthew told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell, his attempt to have his $90 ticket fee refunded on Sunday was unsuccessful.
“The response I’ve initially had from Ticketmaster trying to get a refund was not very good — they said, pretty much, that their terms and conditions don’t allow refunds.”
