Australia’s target to phase out plastic waste products by 2025
Australia has signed up for a global agreement to end plastic pollution by 2040 and phase out plastic waste products by 2025.
“It’s going to focus on a whole range of basic plastic packaging,” Trevor Thornton, recycling expert and lecturer at Deakin University told Neil Mitchell.
Bans have already been put in place in Victoria for early next year to phase out single use plastics such as straws, cups, plates and cutlery.
