A CGI-generated kangaroo is Australia’s new brand ambassador.

Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell unveiled ‘Ruby the Roo’ on a billboard in Tokyo, ahead of the rollout of the “Come and Say G’Day” global campaign next week.

The roo will be voiced by actor Rose Byrne.

Chief executive of Experience Co and former Tourism Australia boss, John O’Sullivan, thinks it’ll be a success.

“I think it will work overseas … frankly that’s where it’s designed to be working,” he told Ross and Russel.

And he says he’d be “very, very” surprised if Melbourne doesn’t feature in the campaign.
