Australian submarines to be built in Adelaide by a French company at $50 billion

Twelve Australian submarines will be built in Adelaide after a French company won the $50 billion contract.

The design chosen is that of a French nuclear sub, however ours, because of our anti-nuclear stance will have diesel/electric.

Listener Ed says he would be pretty scared to jump in a French submarine – ‘Their cars are pretty ’tish’.

Tom Elliott spoke with Minister for Defence Materiel Dan Tehan and questions whether the new subs are simply a vote buying exercise to sure up South Australian seats.
