Australian bowlers would be “delighted” Mitch Marsh was selected, says Ian Chappell
Ian Chappell says Australia’s bowlers would be “delighted” with Mitch Marsh’s output in the Boxing Day Test.
Marsh (0-51) bowled 26 overs during India’s marathon first innings at the MCG, conceding fewer than two runs per over.
Macquarie Cricket expert Ian Chappell said the rest of the bowling attack would be grateful to have been able to share the load in the Melbourne heat.
But he said the all-rounder’s job is only half done.
“I think the Australians would be delighted they picked him in the end,” Chappell told Sportsday.
“Without him, it would have been a lot more hard work.
“I thought he did quite well with the ball – but he’s going to have to make runs if he wants to hold that position down.”
Australia reached stumps on 0-8 after India (7-443) declared late on day two.
