Artist Betina Fauvel-Ogden catches up with Denis Walter

Getting Masterchef judge George Calombaris to stand still for an hour was no easy feat, if you ask the artist who’s painted him. 

Betina Fauvel-Ogden told Denis Walter she wanted to paint the effervescent chef because she loved the show, but also because he’s pretty cute.

The Melbourne artist only had him for an hour each time – but it was enough to nab her the 2016 Archibald Packing Room prize.

‘I thought he’d make a great subject,’ she said on 3AW Afternoons.

And although she likes to make her subjects comfortable, when she’s painting, it’s time to focus.
