Armed offenders rob supermarkets and service stations in overnight rampage

Police are searching for up to five offenders involved in a worrying spate of robberies across Melbourne suburbs on Thursday night.

Service stations and supermarkets in Oakleigh East, Caulfield South, Murrumbeena, Ashburton and Malvern were all targeted in a two-hour rampage between 10pm and midnight.

The offenders were armed with hammers and an axe, making away with cash and cigarettes.
