Associated Public Schools (APS) Chair Philip Grutzner says he’s disappointed by “quite factually incorrect” reporting around a shake-up to sports programs at school.

A Herald Sun report on Thursday suggested competitive sport was going to be would back, but Mr Grutzner, who is also Headmaster at Melbourne Grammar School, told Tom Elliott that wasn’t the case.

“The (reporting) is incredibly disappointing and quite factually incorrect,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“We are absolutely committed to providing a fantastic sporting experience for all of our student.”

Tom Elliott earlier re-affirmed his support for compulsory competitive sport at school, saying it was a crucial part of the curriculum.
