Apartment block residents fume over sudden power outage with ‘no notice’

Residents of a Glen Huntly apartment block say they were (literally) left in the dark after their power was suddenly switched off on Tuesday night due to level crossing removal works.

They say they were given no notice, at all, that it’d be happening.

Stacey told 3AW Mornings it had caused significant problems for those who live in the complex on Neerim Road, with some residents trapped in the basement carpark and others in the middle of cooking dinner when the power was cut.

Another resident, Jackie, said she was in a meeting with the body corporate at the time the power went out.

“They had no idea,” she said.
