Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has officially called for the federal election to be held on May 3.
He travelled to Government House earlier this morning and requested Governor-General Samantha Moystn to dissolve the parliament.
The election campaign will last for five weeks, with Albanese revealing in a press conference cost-of-living will be heavily featured.

“Your vote has never been more important. And your choice has never been more clear. This election is a choice between Labor’s plan to keep building or Peter Dutton’s promise to cut,” he said.
Nine Radio federal politics reporter Zac De Silva pointed out how the Prime Minister spent part of his speech to talk about “global challenges”.
“It’s a pretty good signal for where we can expect this campaign to go, at some point during the campaign, Donald Trump is probably going to slap more tariffs on Australia,” he said.
“The other key thing the PM wanted to point out was healthcare, Medicare,” he added.
