Anthony Albanese admits this year will be “tough” for Australians.

With inflation now expected to peak at about 7 per cent late this year, and rising interest rates, the cost of living crisis is front of mind for Australians.

In his first interview with Neil Mitchell since being elected Prime Minister, Mr Albanese said he “wants to be upfront with people about what we’re facing in the coming months”.

“Certainly it’s going to be tough and we have real economic headwinds,” he said.

Mr Albanese said the Australians who are suffering most are those in insecure work.

“We know there’s been a real increase in that over recent years,” he said.
