Annual site holders booted from Echuca caravan park
Annual site holders are being booted out of an Echuca caravan park in a move one annual site holder has labelled a money grab.
Crystal, who owns an annual site at Discovery Parks Echuca, was one of 100 to 150 people notified yesterday that they will have to leave the park by August to make way for cabins for short stays.
She says it’s a slap in the face after paying fees during COVID-19 for a site she couldn’t use.
“It feels as though they’re after the money, they don’t care about the families,” she told Jacqui Felgate and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.

“As everybody knows, Echuca was affected by the floods so we obviously haven’t been able to get in there to start rebuilding.
“Yes, it’s our holiday home, it’s not our main residence, but we’ve poured our heart and soul, and our money, into these places.”
Crystal believes two other caravan parks in Echuca owned by the same company have also sent some annual site holders emails informing them they’ll need to vacate their sites to make way for cabins for short-stay tourists.

Correction: an earlier version of this story incorrectly stated permanent residents were also issued with notices to vacate the park.
