Victorians are being warned not to put off any outstanding bowel screening tests.

It comes after Ambulance Victoria CEO Tony Walker revealed he’s been diagnosed with bowel cancer after putting off the test for the last six to 12 months.

He told Neil Mitchell he’s very lucky, as the cancer appears to have been caught early.

“It just goes to the power of screening, because if I hadn’t done this I potentially would have had a more serious issue in the next few years that would have shown up,” Mr Walker said.

He said he had no symptoms to suggest anything was wrong.
