Alan Tudge confirms he’s quitting federal parliament
Alan Tudge has quit federal parliament.
It will trigger a by-election in the marginal Melbourne seat of Aston.
The Liberal MP told parliament the passing of his father “cemented” his decision to leave after 12 years.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision, for me, but it is necessary for my health and for my family, amongst other reasons,” he said.
Mr Tudge has been forced to defend himself against a number of political scandals in recent years.
