Airport drama: Passenger speaks out after wheels explode on Etihad plane

A passenger who was left stranded at Melbourne Airport after two wheels on his Etihad flight exploded says he’s thankful the plane didn’t take off.

EY461 from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi was forced to abort its departure on Sunday night, with passenger Vince telling Tony Jones he was happy with the communication from the airline and cabin crew as the drama unfolded.

“We didn’t know what was happening but it looks like a very good decision from the pilot,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“We were getting regular updates (while on the tarmac) but only what they could tell us becuase they just didn’t know.”
