AFL football boss ‘confident’ on new rule changes, responds to concussion talk around Collingwood defender

AFL football boss Laura Kane says she’s confident players will adjust to rules changes announced ahead of the 2024 season.
Interpretation changes to dangerous tackles and smothering were made public on Tuesday, largely in response to high-profile incidents involving Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard and St Kilda’s Dan Butler last season.
“We are confident the players will be able to adjust (to the new rules),” she told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“We saw some of the best football we’ve ever seen (last year) and that was all (after) an adjustment on the dangerous tackles.”
Kane also commented on recent talk around Collingwood premiership defender Nathan Murphy, who has been cleared to continued his AFL career after repeated concussions.
