The chair of a parliamentary inquiry looking at online gambling in Australia says there has been progress with the country’s major sporting codes when it comes to addressing concerns about betting and the advertising surrounding it.

Labor MP Peta Murphy told Tom Elliott, who is hosting 3AW Mornings this week, the AFL and NRL had “walked back from their original position” there was no problem.

“They’re now conceding that there are probably some issues, but perhaps haven’t put forward what the solutions are in any detail yet,” she said.
