Adam Gilchrist not expecting ‘aggressive’ Indian home crowd, gives his tip ahead of Cricket World Cup final
Adam Gilchrist says Australia should expect a loud, but not aggressive atmosphere in Sunday’s Cricket World Cup final against home nation India.
The Aussies are through to the decider after a nervy three-win wicket over South Africa overnight (AEDT) on Friday, while India smashed New Zealand to reach the showpiece event of ODI cricket.
Gilchrist, who was part of three Cricket World Cup-winning sides for Australia, said the home nation would provide a cauldron-like atmosphere but he didn’t expect it to be overly confrontational.
“It will be loud and hostile,” he told Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports.

“But the hostility ends with the support for India – I don’t remember ever really feeling an aggressive reception against the opponent.
“They just love their cricket so much, it’ll just be a carnival atmosphere.”
