Jacqui Felgate says the current bail laws in Victoria are “absolutely staggering” after a teenage boy who allegedly crashed a stolen car and fled the scene was granted bail.

The 16-year-old boy was chased by Carlton coach Michael Voss after allegedly fleeing the scene of a car crash in Hawthorn and has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and possessing a controlled weapon.

“Let’s just drill down on the cold hard reality of that incident,” Jacqui said on 3AW Drive.

“The men chased this teen down and he allegedly had a machete on him – what is he turned on them?”
