‘Absolutely frightening’: Victoria’s yearly crime statistics revealed
The latest crime figures for Victoria are out, with offences committed by children aged 10 to 17 in the 12 months to the end of September jumping to their highest level since 2009.
Tony Jones said the latest statistics are “absolutely frightening”.
“Victoria has never been in a worse state when it comes to law and order,” he said.

Child offenders are also over represented in key crimes, accounting for a quarter of all aggravated burglaries and half of all robberies.
Also, family violence cases have skyrocketed, with a third of the offences committed by repeat offenders, many in regional Victoria.
Secretary of the Victorian Police Association Wayne Gatt, who issued a grim prediction on the crime statistics back on Tuesday, then reacted to what the Crime Statistics Agency released today.
“If our (police) recruiting levels were right, and we had the right level of resources, I reckon these figures almost certainly would be better,” Gatt said on 3AW Mornings.
