‘Absolute circus’ unfolds outside Tony Mokbel court hearing

There were chaotic scenes outside a Melbourne court on Tuesday as Tony Mokbel continued his bid to be granted bail.

The drug kingpin is fighting to be released after almost two decades in jail, hoping a $500,000 surety is enough for the Court of Appeal to let him free.

“It was an absolute circus,” The Age Crime Reporter Erin Pearson told 3AW Drive.

“There would have been about a dozen security officers and PSOs lining the streets.”
