ABC chairman Kim Williams admits he’s been surprised by the “astonishingly large pile-on” directed at him following his comments about American podcaster Joe Rogan.

Mr Williams originally accused Mr Rogan—who hosts America’s most popular podcast—of taking advantage of “people’s responsibilities”.

The ABC boss told Tom Elliott he couldn’t understand the level of hate that came his way following the comments, which Mr Rogan has since addressed on social media.

“I’ve been surprised that there has been an astonishingly large pile-on by people saying I was an embarrassment to Australia,” he said on 3AW.

“I’ve been accused of having a warped outlook on life and being unhinged.”
