A motorcyclist is in a critical condition after colliding with a van at Knoxfield

A motorcyclist is fighting for life after a collision at Knoxfield this morning. 

It is believed the motorbike collided with a van on Ferntree Gully Road, near the intersection of Millenium Court, around 6.30am.

The male rider, who is yet to be identified, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. 

Police are appealing for witnesses following the crash.

The driver of the van was uninjured and is assisting police.
