Food writer tells Ross & John the dairy industry won’t survive without subsidies
Food writer Richard Cornish paints a bleak picture of the Australian dairy industry.
He says the industry won’t survive without government subsidies.
Mr Cornish told Ross and John it costs more to produce a litre of milk than farmers receive for selling it.
‘I don’t think the government’s going to do terribly much. I think it’s up to us to start lobbying,’ Mr Cornish said.
‘Farmers are in trouble financially, and they’re really suffering emotionally as well.’
