Three offenders remain on the run after a terrifying home invasion at Pakenham.

A woman and child were left distraught after the aggravated burglary.

Four offenders broke into their home around 10.30am on Tuesday.

They stole various items before fleeing in a white Ford Territory and stolen Suzuki Swift.

The latter car was spotted and pursued by police.

One offender was arrested with the help of the dog squad at Hampton Park, however, the others remain on the run.

Several schools in Melbourne’s south east were briefly placed in lockdown as police searched the area.
