Tom Elliott spoke to Hilary McNevin, freelance food writer and author, about table sharing.

She said she had never been a fan of communal tables. 

‘If I’m sitting at a table for two and someone comes up and wants to sit next to me or near me I find it quite violating,’ she said.

‘Don’t assume because I’m alone that I want company,’ she said.
