A letter writer in today’s Age newspaper says the votes of young Australians should count for twice those of older people.

John Morris, 63, told Tom Elliott he believes the votes of young people under the age of 40 years should be more heavily weighted, because they will have to live with election outcomes. 

‘Politicians of all ilk frequently say we are voting for the future,’ he said.

‘Most of the policies around maintain the status quo, there’s not a lot to engage young people.’
