Adrian Bayley has jail sentence reduced
Jill Meagher’s killer has had his jail sentence reduced.
The Court of Appeal has quashed one of Adrian Bayley’s rape convictions, finding key evidence used to convict him shouldn’t have been presented to the jury.
He will now serve a minimum of 40 years in prison.
The appeal related to a sexual assault charge in 2000, with the victim identifying Bayley 12 years later after seeing a photo on Facebook while looking at a missing persons page for Jill Meagher.
Bayley will now be eligible for parole in 2055.
He will be 83.
