Much of the state is waking up to snow this morning, with good falls in a number of places, including parts of the Dandenongs and Central Victoria.
The freeze is set to continue on Wednesday, but there is relief in sight from the destructive winds.
The winds are expected to calm, but not before the SES received more than 1000 calls for help after winds reached as much as 100kp/h.
Snow has been reported in Ballarat, as well as Romsey, Sunbury and Gisborne.
Drivers are being told to take extra care, with black ice reported on several of the state’s roads.
